McNair Tabbed LEC Rookie of the Week

McNair secures second straight LEC weekly honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) released its second report of weekly awards for men's basketball with first year guard Mahdee McNair tabbed the LEC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. It marks the second straight LEC Rookie of the Week honor for McNair this season. 

McNair posted a career-high 21 points for UMass Dartmouth on November 12 to defeat Bridgewater State University, 129-82, in non-conference action. The dominant victory moved the Corsairs to 3-0 on the young season and marked the fourth highest points scored in a game in program history. 

The rookie guard shot 66.7 percent from the field after making 10-of-15 baskets including one triple (1-3). He also recorded three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block. McNair currently ranks ninth overall in the league with 53 total points on the season and eighth in points per game (17.7). Additionally, he sits fifth in the Little East in field goals made (23) with a 56.1 field goal shooting percentage, good for 10th overall in the conference. 

McNair and the Corsairs travel to nationally-ranked Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on Tuesday, November 18 for their next non-conference tilt. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time from the Harrington Auditorium.
