DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth men's basketball team downed Brooklyn College, 102-59, in their 2025-26 season home-opener on Saturday night during the annual LaFrance Hospitality Tournament from Tripp Athletic Center. Powered by a solid defensive effort and six Corsairs scoring in double digits, UMass Dartmouth kicked off the year with a 1-0 overall record in their first-ever meeting against the Bulldogs. The Corsairs will face the Bluejays of the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for the championship game.

Nic Boyd clipped in early three-pointers to keep the game knotted up at 8-apiece in the opening minutes of action. Boyd strung seven points together to put the home team ahead 10-16 with 15:13 on the clock. Senior guard
Darius Peterson made an immediate impact after checking into the game recording a steal and two blocks before nailing his first triple of contest to make it 19-12. UMass Dartmouth continued to grow their lead with an 8-0 run finished off with a dunk and jumper by senior center

At the 6:51 mark, first year
Mahdee McNair laid in his first collegiate bucket to pull away with a 10-point lead. Shortly after, McNair stole the ball away from Muneer Ibrahem and finished the fastbreak with a two-hand slam to make it 36-24. The Corsairs ended the first half strong with an 8-2 run started by a good bucket from senior center
Ryan Flauto to take a commanding 49-30 advantage into halftime.
Boyd drained a three-pointer to get the Corsairs offense going early in the second half. UMass Dartmouth continued to extend their lead with a 13-2 run highlighted by a huge throw down by Dunbury off the lob from sophomore
Danny Reyes to take a 29-point lead in the game. McNair added five points followed by a made layup from Dunbury to pull the Corsairs away with a 76-40 advantage at the midway point of the half.
DiChiara knocked down a triple off the helper from Boyd to make it 85-48 with 7:04 left on the clock. UMass Dartmouth extended their lead by over 40 points thanks to an 8-0 run that was finished off with a good jumper by Flauto. First year

Isaiah Makor, each marking their first collegiate points, enroute to a dominant 102-59 victory over the Bulldogs.
Flauto (8-10 FG, 2-3 F) and Boyd (7-16 FG, 4-9 3FG) each led the Corsairs with 18 total points in the season home opener win. Flauto hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds to kick off the season with a double-double, marking his eighth in his career for the Corsairs, while Boyd led the squad with seven assists. Peterson had a standout performance after dropping a career-high 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-6 3FG) to go along with three rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and an assist. Dunbury notched 14 points after going 6-for-7 from the floor including two free throws as well as four boards and pair of blocks.
McNair posted 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-3 FT) in his collegiate debut for UMass Dartmouth adding four rebounds, four assists, one block, and a team-high four steals. DiChiara also produced double figures in the win with 11 points (3-10 FG, 3-6 3FG, 2-4 FT) to go along with four defensive rebounds.

Charles Bembery tallied his first pair of career blocks against the Bulldogs.
