PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its weekly awards in men's ice hockey and UMass Dartmouth student-athletes
Tyler Stewart and
Graham Burke were both recognized following outstanding efforts last week. It marks the first LEC honors for either player with Stewart earning Player of the Week, while Burke was the Goalie of the Week.
Stewart, a senior left wing and assistant captain out of Pittsburgh, Pa., had a career night last week as the Corsairs defeated Salem State, 6-1 on the road. He posted his first hat trick of the season, adding two assists to his three goals for a career-best five point night. Additionally, Stewart was a +5 and recorded a game-high eight shots.
Through 10 games played this season, Stewart leads the squad in goals (6), assists (6) and points (12). He has posted two goals on the power play, while two were also game-winners. Individually, Stewart has produced a team-high 52 shots. Amongst the LEC's best, Stewart ranks first in game-winning goals, second in power play goals, fifth in goals per game (0.60) and seventh in points per game (1.20).
Burke, a senior goalie from Wilmington, Del., picked up his first weekly honor of the season after recording 38 saves in the victory at Salem State. Allowing just one goal, he recorded 15 saves in the first period, 16 in the second and seven in the third to secure the win. His only goal was allowed at 4:46 of the opening period, going on to stalemate the Vikings for the Corsairs first win over Salem State since Feb. 10, 2024.
Appearing in six games this season, including four as a starter, Burke is currently 1-4-0 overall in a team-high 314:56 minutes played. He has allowed 21 goals for a 4.00 goals against average, while making 172 saves for a .891 save percentage. Amongst the LEC's best goalies, Burke ranks ninth in save percentage.
UMass Dartmouth (5-5-0; 1-3-0 LEC) returns to the ice for their final game of 2025 on Tuesday. The Corsairs welcome former conference-rival, Worcester State to Hetland Arena for a 7:30pm puck drop.
