Box Score 2 LEESBURG, Fla. – The UMass Dartmouth softball team were tripped by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Monday, 7-4, during the third day of action of THE Spring Games. The Corsairs move to 3-2 overall with the loss against the Monks who secured their first win of the year.

Larissa Piessens laced the ball to the left center field for a double to get the bats going in the opening inning. With the bases loaded, junior
Sydney Menz reached on a fielder's choice to score Piessens home and give the Corsairs a 1-0 edge. In the bottom of the second, the Monks posted two runs after a two RBI single from Tirell to take a 2-1 lead. UMass Dartmouth quickly answered in the top of the third thanks to sophomore
Olivia Silva notching an RBI single to tag junior Raelynn Perregaux home and tie the game up at 2-apiece.

Lily Routhier registered her second strikeout of the day to help keep the Monks off the board in the bottom of the third. After Routhier walked to open the top of the fourth, junior
Lena Tsonis then smashed the ball for the first home run of the season to put the Corsairs up 4-2. Saint Joseph's battled back in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a grand slam by Bouchard to seal the comeback win by a final score of 7-4.
Routhier picked up her first loss of the year after throwing for 5.2 innings and allowing five earned runs on eight hits. Routhier also recorded two punch outs in the game on 87 total pitches.
Piessens ended the game by going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and one run. Tsonis tallied her first collegiate home run after going 1-for-3 at the plate posting two RBIs and one run. Perreguax also recorded one double in the game after two at-bats to go along with one run and two walks.

UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 12 for their fourth day of THE Spring Games. The Corsairs will face Fontbonne University for game at 10:00 a.m. before wrapping up the day against Ursinus College at 2:45 p.m.
