BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth softball team were tripped up by UMass Boston in Little East Conference (LEC) double header action on Thursday afternoon. Junior infielder
RaeLynn Perregaux recorded her 100
th career hit for UMass Dartmouth in the opening game of the series, bringing her to 28 hits on the season and 101 now in her career. The Corsairs move to 0-4 in conference play after the Beacons series sweep to improve to a 3-0-1 mark in Little East action.

Emma Talpey. The Beacons answered in the top of the third posting three runs to go ahead 3-1 in the game. In the following inning, UMass Boston continued to tack on six more runs off four hits to claim a 9-1 cushion.

Larissa Piessens grounded out to the Beacons first baseman to tag senior outfielder
Jillian Walsh home for the second score of the afternoon. In the final inning, the Corsairs cashed in one run after Takasugi reached home on throwing error, but the Beacons went on to secure game one's victory by a final score of 9-3.
Talpey and Piessens each tallied one hit and one RBI apiece on four at-bats for the Corsairs. Takasugi went 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs, a double, and a stolen base. Perregaux registered her 100
th career hit for UMass Dartmouth after going 1-for-1 with three walks. Sophomore
Olivia Silva posted one hit on three at-bats with one walk.

Lily Routhier picked up the loss after throwing 3.1 innings while giving up eight earned runs and seven hits. She recorded one punchout after facing 20 batters and throwing 77 total pitches. First year pitcher
Riley Giard threw the remaining 2.2 innings for the Corsairs and allowed just two hits on 11 batters faced. She also posted one strikeout on 37 total pitches.
The Beacons picked up where they left in game two by putting three early runs on the scoreboard in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, UMass Boston tacked on two more runs to extend their advantage to 5-0. UMass Dartmouth produced four hits in the last four innings of the contest featuring two hits by Walsh and a double by Perreguax. The Beacons sealed the series sweep after adding two late runs in the final two innings to win game two by a final score of 7-0.
Walsh led the team after going 2-for-3 while Perreguax notched the lone double for the Corsairs going 1-for-3 at the plate. Takasugi also posted one hit on four at-bats along with one stolen base. Sophomore
Liv Matos and Silva each recorded one hit apiece in the loss after three at-bats.
First year pitcher
Edy Crawford recorded the loss after pitching the entire six innings for UMass Dartmouth moving her to a 5-5 overall record on the mound. She allowed just four earned runs and seven hits in the contest while also posting one strikeout on 84 total pitches.
UMass Dartmouth will travel to Plymouth State University on Monday, April 14 for their next conference double header. First pitch for the opening game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from D&H Park.
