KEENE, N.H. – The UMass Dartmouth baseball team saw its 2025 season come to an end on Wednesday, falling to UMass Boston in the game four elimination contest at the Little East Conference Tournament. The Corsairs conclude their season with a 16-21 overall record, having gone 8-8 in conference play.
The visiting Beacons opened up the game's scoring in the fifth inning and held a 3-0 advantage through the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh with two on base, sophomore shortstop
Cooper Wixon belted a triple into right field to drive in two runs. Wixon then came home on a wild pitch to take a 4-3 advantage.
UMass Dartmouth capitalized in the bottom of the seventh with runners on as senior right fielder
Scott Cromack – who had posted a single through the right side, then stole second, advanced home from his position at third on a wild pitch to give the Corsairs the 4-3 lead.
UMass Boston answered in the top of the eighth as a single up the middle from senior Mike Meagher drove in a pair of runs for a 5-4 lead. The Beacons went on to add seven runs in the top of the ninth to take a 12-4 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Corsairs saw sophomore
Ryan Jones crack a double to left center and bring in a run, but the Beacons closed out the game for a 12-5 victory.
Wixon went 2-for-4 on the day with a run scored and two runs batted in, while Cromack was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Senior second baseman
Devyn Vezina was 2-for-4 as well with a run scored.
On the mound, junior
Geordan Jackson Murphy shouldered the loss, going 0.1 innings with a strikeout. Starter
AJ Rourke went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits with six strikeouts on the afternoon.
