Track & Field Earns All-Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

Patrone honored individually; Corsairs women tabbed for team honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2025 All-Academic honors and UMass Dartmouth has been recognized. Individually, rookie Sean Patrone was named an All-Academic Athlete, while the Corsairs women's team posted All-Academic honors.

To earn the honor as a student-athlete, an individual must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30, must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals in their event on TFRRS or must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams on TFRRS. To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction, a squad must achieve a cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility to be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter.

Patrone, a native of Wilmington, Mass., finished the season with All-Region honors once again in the high jump after an outdoor campaign that saw him place sixth or better in all eight meets he competed. In addition to five overall victories, he claimed his first Little East Championship title on April 27 with a collegiate-best jump of 2.02 meters (6' 7.5").
 
The 2025 Little East Outdoor Field Rookie of the Year, Patrone claimed victory at four straight meets to open the season, including the Wesleyan Invite, the Corsair Classic, the Coast Guard Spring Invite and the Gerry Gravel Classic. Following his LEC title, he went on to claim second overall in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters at the DIII New England Championships, while earning fourth the following weekend at the Open New England Meet. He finished the season ranked 30th in Division III in the high jump.

The UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team concluded the season with a sixth-place finish at the Little East Conference (LEC) Outdoor Championships on Apr. 27. The squad combined for a 3.46 cumulative grade point average as one of four Little East schools to garner All-Academic Team honors (Eastern Connecticut State, Plymouth State, Southern Maine). The 2025 campaign was highlighted by graduate student Emma Steedman, who helped the 4x800-meter relay to victory, placed second in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase for All-LEC Second Team and was also an All-LEC Third Team selection indoors for the Mile run.

Overall, the Corsairs posted 13 All-Conference honors during the outdoor season, including the victorious 4x800 relay featuring Steedman, seniors Bee Greenberg and Julia Latura, along with rookie Sara Lopez. During the indoor campaign, UMass Dartmouth saw nine post All-Conference honors, including a victory in the 4x800 relay once again wih Latura, senior Anya Aadland, rookie Ashlyn Byrnes and sophomore Serena Carnes
