Women's Tennis Sweeps Russell Sage, 7-0, on the Road

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team swept Russell Sage College, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in non-conference action. The Corsairs secured their third win of the season to improve to 3-1 overall while the Gators fell to 0-4 on the year.
 
UMass Dartmouth came out strong with victories at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles to secure the opening point of the match. First years Ava Aguiar and Gianna Doiron defeated their opponents 6-0 at No. 3 doubles to kick off the match for UMass Dartmouth. Senior Zuri Walters and sophomore Alyson Tobias took down Annabella Putnam and Cami Lamora at No. 1 doubles to seal the first point of the match and grab a 1-0 lead.
 
Graduate student Kayli Langan started singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, marking her first singles victory of the season, to give the Corsairs a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore captain Maddie Gonzalez swept her Gator opponent (6-0,6-0) in the No. 2 singles spot before Aguiar sealed her first singles win of the year at No. 6 to extend UMass Dartmouth to 4-0.
 
Tobias cemented the Corsairs win with her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, marking her third singles victory of the season. Walters and Beltran closed out singles with dominant wins at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, enroute to a 7-0 road victory over Russell Sage.
 
UMass Dartmouth have a quick turnaround playing at VTSU Castleton on Saturday, September 20th at 12:00 p.m. for their next Little East Conference match.
