The Corsairs opened an 11-5 lead in the first set of action, led by a kill from Carter and an ace from Harrington. Another five-point run – which included three straight aces from Peters – pushed the home team to a 16-6 advantage, but the visitors stormed back. Trailing by a 23-14 margin, the Owls used a 6-0 stretch to close the gap to 23-20 but kills from Peters and Pate closed out the set win.

Second set once again saw a large advantage for the Corsairs as back-to-back kills from rookie outside hitter Norah Schweitzer made it an 8-2 score. Keene State narrowed the margin to two (9-7), but an 8-0 run for UMD, aided by an ace from Harrington and kills from Pate and Peters, made it a 19-8 score. A kill from Seutter ended the set giving the Corsairs a 2-0 lead.

The visiting Owls charged back into the match in the third and fourth sets, capitalizing on numerous Corsairs' errors to tie the match at 2-all. Heading into the fifth set, the Corsairs opened with a strong effort, but the Owls made it a 9-7 contest on a UMD error. With the score at 11-10, UMass Dartmouth rattled off three straight points and took advantage of another error to claim the victory.
