DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth softball team split a doubleheader on Wednesday in their 2026 home opener, taking game two over Bridgewater State by a 5-1 margin. The Bears were the victors in game one by a score of 7-6. The Corsairs are now 9-3 overall on the season, while BSU is 9-5.

In game two, the Corsairs opened the game's scoring in the bottom of the first as sophomore right fielder Lily Routhier reached on a muffed throw to first, going on to advance to second as senior third baseman RaeLynn Perregaux came home to score.

Senior catcher Lena Tsonis then singled up the middle to score Routhier, giving the home team a 2-0 advantage. The Corsairs made it a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the second as rookie pitcher Brielle Kenney belted her first collegiate home run over the center field wall.

The Bears bounced back in the top of the fourth with runners on as Victoria Becker stole second and Aubrey Carberry scored on a muffed throw by the shortstop. In the bottom of the sixth, the Corsairs pushed two more runs across as senior second baseman Emma Talpey scored on a wild pitch, before Perregaux singled through the right side to drive home Kenney for the 5-1 score.
