DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth baseball team powered their way to a Little East doubleheader split against Keene State on Saturday. The Corsairs posted a 5-2 win in game two, shouldering a tough 6-2 loss in game one against the Owls. UMD moves to 18-18 overall and 10-3 in conference play with the split.
In the game two victory, the visiting Owls opened the scoring in the top of the first as first baseman Jonathan Chatfield sent a sacrifice fly to left to bring in second baseman Trevor Snow from third. The Corsairs countered in the bottom of the inning as senior centerfielder and captain
Brett Baker reached on a fielder's choice, advancing on a throwing error that allowed rookie second baseman
Jayden Cruz to score and tie the game.
The fifth inning saw junior left fielder
Marcus Ollivierre reach on a fielder's choice of his own, allowing junior catcher
Ryan Jones to score and give the Corsairs a 2-1 advantage. In the sixth, a single through the right side by Jones brough home Baker and a double to right center from senior first baseman
Jake San Antonio followed, bringing in a pair of runs for a 5-1 lead.
The Owls added a run in the top of the ninth, but senior right-hander
Aidan O'Donnell closed out the game for the squad's 10 league victory.
San Antonio was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Junior third baseman
Nick Bartalini went 2-for-2. On the mound, rookie
Jackson Hayes improved to 4-1 on the season, allowing just one run on one hit with three strikeouts. Senior
Seamus Marshall pitched 2.0 innings with a strikeout, while O'Donnell closed it out with one run on one hit and a strikeout.
In game one, the Corsairs opened the advantage as Baker belted a home run to right center in the bottom of the first. In the fifth, UMD made it a 2-0 score as a walk with bases loaded to junior shortstop
Cooper Wixon brought in a run.
The Owls responded in the top of the sixth, pushing four runs across to gain the lead and a 4-2 advantage. Keene State went on to add two more runs in the top of the ninth.
Wixon was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Baker was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in. Junior left-hander
Jordan Paradis started, pitching 4.0 innings with no runs allowed on just one hit with seven strikeouts. Senior
Adam Maher shouldered the loss, allowing four runs on four hits over 1.1 innings with three K's, while junior
Aiden Newhall went 1.1 innings with no runs allowed on one hit and a strikeout. Classmate
Dillon Harding closed out the game, going 2.1 innings with two runs allowed on three hits and two strikeouts.
The Corsairs celebrated their 2026 graduates in a pregame ceremony, including Baker, Maher, O'Donnell, Marshall, San Antonio,
