Junior lauded after outstanding effort on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference has announced its weekly award winners in baseball and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete Jordan Paradis has been recognized. The junior earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season after an outstanding conference performance.

Paradis, a left-handed pitcher from North Attleboro, Mass., helped lift the Corsairs to a 7-1 win over Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday, allowing just one run on one hit against the Warriors over 8.0 innings pitched. He struck out 11 batters over the course of his outing.

The junior faced 10 batters over the final three innings pitched, recording five strikeouts. Additionally, two of his strikeouts came in the top of the eighth to conclude his afternoon. Paradis' only run allowed came in the top of the fifth, while his only hit was allowed in the top of the first inning.

Paradis' effort helped the Corsairs post their first regular season sweep of Eastern since the 2016 season and just the second time since the inception of the Little East in 1997.

Appearing in seven games this season, including five as a starter, Paradis owns a 3-1 overall record. He has a 3.60 earned run average with opponents hitting just .146 against him. Paradis has allowed 17 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits, striking out a team and conference-high 46 batters.

Paradis also leads the Little East in batters struck out looking (20) and is second overall in opponent batting average and fewest hits allowed. He ranks fifth overall in wins, seventh in earned run average and 12th in innings pitched.

UMass Dartmouth (11-13; 4-2 LEC) returns to action on Tuesday, welcoming UMass Boston in Little East action at 3pm.
