Perregaux Named 2026 Little East Player of the Year

Senior third baseman becomes first Corsair in program history to garner league's top honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its major year-end honors in softball and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete RaeLynn Perregaux has been recognized. The senior was named the conference's Player of the Year, becoming the first Corsair in program history to earn the honor since the LEC's inception in 1997.
 
Perregaux, who hails from Torrington, Conn., leads the team with a .430 batting average through 41 starts this season. She has recorded a single-season record and team-high 65 hits in 151 at-bats, including a team-best 19 doubles, two triples and six home runs – also team-high's. Perregaux, who had produced 38 runs scored with 32 runs batted in, owns a .702 slugging percentage with a 1.162 OPS on the season. She also currently has 46 putouts and 117 assists for a .926 fielding percentage.
 
Amongst the Little East's best, Perregaux ranks first overall in hits and doubles, third in runs scored and home runs, while sitting fourth in slugging percentage and OPS. She is also fifth in batting average, eighth in RBI and 13th on on-base percentage. Nationally, Perregaux is ninth in assists and 11th in assists per game (2.85). She ranks 14th in doubles and 24th in doubles per game (0.46), while sitting 25th amongst DIII's best in hits and total bases (106).
 
As a junior, Perregaux was the only player to start in all 38 games for the Corsairs, posting a then career-high 54 hits on 122 at-bats for a career-best .443 batting average. She led the team with a .656 slugging percentage as well as a .474 on-base percentage, while recording career-high's with 30 runs batted in and 18 total doubles in 2025. Perregaux finished the 2025 season with 23 runs scored, two home runs, one triple, and five stolen bases. She also owned a .911 fielding percentage after making 42 putouts and career-high 111 assists on her way to All-LEC First Team and NFCA All-Region Third Team honors.
 
Perregaux started all 37 games she played for the Corsairs as a sophomore, finishing second overall with a .331 batting average. She had 41 hits in a team-high 124 at-bats, including 10 doubles, a triple and a home run. In addition to 26 runs scored with a team-best 24 RBI and a squad-high 56 total bases, she was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases.
 
As a rookie, Perregaux appeared in 41 games, including 38 starts. She batted .267 from the plate, tallying 32 hits over 120 at bats, including three doubles, one triple and three home runs. In addition to 18 runs scored, she had nine runs batted, including the walk-off single to score the winning run in extra innings of the Little East Conference Championship against Eastern Connecticut for the Corsairs first LEC title in program history.
 
In her career, Perregaux has played in 157 games, including 154 as a starter. Currently, she owns a .369 batting average with a program-record 191 hits in 518 at-bats, including 50 doubles, five triples and 12 home runs. Owning 287 total bases, she has a career .554 slugging percentage and a .403 on-base percentage.
 
UMass Dartmouth – which has now won seven of its last 10 contests – went on to post a 4-1 win over fourth-seeded Eastern Connecticut State to advance. The Corsairs then posted a 6-0 win over top-seeded Vermont State University Castleton, before eliminating UMass Boston, 10-1 (6 inn.) on Saturday to advance to Championship Sunday. Needing two victories to claim the crown, UMD defeated fifth-seeded Rhode Island College, 2-1, before recording an 8-3 win in game two to claim their second championship title in program history.
 
The Corsairs were selected to the Worcester Regional for the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament and will face Stockton University on Friday, May 15 at 1:30pm. The winner of Friday's game advances to Saturday's 11am game to face the winner of the other Friday's other contest between WPI and Albertus Magnus. The losing team from each game on Friday will meet on Saturday at 1:30pm.
