NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2026 All-Academic honors and UMass Dartmouth student-athletes
Ewan McLeod and
Sean Patrone have been recognized.
To earn the honor as a student-athlete, an individual must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30, must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals in their event on TFRRS or must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams on TFRRS.
McLeod, who hails from Raynham, Mass., was a two-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree in the high jump. He qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in May after recording a height of 2.07 meters (6' 9.5") – a personal best mark – to win at the MIT Final Qualifier. His mark moved him to 12th overall amongst Division III's high jumpers entering championship weekend.
It was a solid rookie outdoor season for McLeod, who competed in nine meets. He opened the campaign with a height of 2.03 meters (6' 7.75") at the Wesleyan J. Elmer Swanson Invite, claiming victory in the event. He went on to post back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Corsair Classic and the Coast Guard Invitational, before finishing fifth at the Tufts Spring Stampede.
After powering his way to second at the Bridgewater Bears Invite, McLeod earned fourth overall at the Little East Championships before making it a 1-2-3 sweep for the Corsairs in the high jump at the Division III New England Championships – as he placed third overall. McLeod finished the 2026 season ranked as high as 12th in the nation in the high jump, finishing second in the region for the outdoor season.
Patrone, a native of Wilmington, Mass., finished the season with All-Region honors once again – both indoor and outdoor – in the high jump after an outdoor campaign that saw him place seventh or better in all 18 meets he competed throughout the season. In addition to six overall victories, he claimed his second Little East Outdoor Championship title on April 25 with a jump of 1.92 meters (6' 3.5"), while earning his first LEC Indoor title on February 21 with a mark of 1.97 meters (6' 5.5").
The 2025 Little East Outdoor Field Rookie of the Year, Patrone opened the 2026 season with five finishes in the top seven, including wins at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational, the Gordon Kelly Invite and the Wheaton Invitational. Following his LEC title, he went on to claim second overall in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters at the DIII New England Championships. He followed the same pattern during the outdoor season, earning the win at LEC's before taking second overall at DIII New England's.
As a team, the Corsairs claimed victory at the 2026 Little East Outdoor Championships and were runner-up in a field of 35 teams at the DIII New England Championships. The squad also placed second at the LEC Indoor Meet.
