WALTHAM, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth volleyball team closed out action at the 2026 New England Volleyball Classic on Saturday, taking on Endicott and Brandeis at the Gosman Sports Center. The Corsairs shouldered a 3-1 loss to the Gulls before falling to the host Judges, 3-2. UMD moves to 6-6 on the season with the losses.
 
In the opener against Endicott, the Gulls took a 2-0 lead but the Corsairs bounced back in the third. Trailing by a 12-9 margin, UMass Dartmouth capitalized on several errors and kills from junior opposite Olivia Seutter and rookie outside hitter Norah Schweitzer to tie the match at 14-all.
 
The two teams continued to match one another until a 4-0 run put the Corsairs up by an 18-15 margin. Another 4-0 run, aided by a kill from senior middle blocker Maddie Carter and several Endicott errors, made it a 22-16 score. The Corsairs closed out the set win on a kill by senior outside hitter and captain Allison Pate to make it a 2-1 margin in the match.
 
Despite the momentum, the Corsairs could not battle back in the fourth as a 7-0 run pushed Endicott ahead by an 18-7 margin. UMass Dartmouth took advantage of several errors to make it a 22-11 score, but three straight points sealed the match victory for the Gulls.
 
Pate led the way with nine kills, adding an assist, a service ace and six digs. Seutter added six kills with a dig, as Schweitzer and Carter each posted five kills with the latter adding three block solo and five block assists to lead the game. Senior setter and captain Skye Peters added 17 assists with an ace and a team-high eight digs.
 
In the second match of the day, the Corsairs trailed by a 1-0 margin against Brandeis, but battled back in the second set. A service ace by rookie defensive specialist Mya Matos made it a 12-6 score. The Corsairs went on a 5-0 rally to build up a 23-12 advantage. An error by the Judges and a kill from Carter sealed the set win to tie the match.
 
Third set action saw another UMD victory as an 8-1 run pushed the visitors out to an 18-11 margin. Kills from Carter and senior middle blocker Ella Soutter later made it a 22-15 score, but with the Corsairs on the verge, Brandeis battled back with a 5-0 run to make it a 23-21 score. UMD took advantage of an error and a Soutter kill to seal the set win and take a 2-1 lead.
 
After bouncing back in the fourth, the Judges forced a fifth and deciding set. An ace from Matos and a kill from Schweitzer put the Corsairs up 6-5 in the frame and the two teams continued to battle. Locked in a 10-all tie, Brandeis utilized a 4-1 run to take a 14-11 lead. The Corsairs gained a point back, but a final strike by the Judges earned the set and match victory.
 
Pate once again led the way with 11 kills, an assist, an ace, a block assist and 17 digs. Seutter added 10 kills with an assist and four block assists, while Carter posted nine kills with three block assists and a dig. Peters recorded 34 saves with three service aces and nine digs, while rookie defensive specialist Brooke Harrington had a kill with five assists and 16 digs.
 
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Thomas College at 5pm in the Tripp Athletic Center.
