DARTMOUTH, Mass. - UMass Dartmouth field hockey defeated WestConn in an overtime thriller 3-2 for their first LEC victory of the season. 

The Corsairs have defeated the Wolves for first time since 2022, and the second time since the 2016 season.

It was the first LEC victory for the team since the 2024 season.

Carly Wang scored the game winning goal with about four and a half minutes left in the first overtime quarter.

Sam Gacioch tallied the game winning assist after sprinting down the field to save the ball from going out of bounds.

It was Amelia Keeler who forced overtime with a goal in the 53rd minute. Kelly Bates had the pass into the circle that set up Keeler for the game-tying goal.

It was Brooke Lydon who got the scoring started for the Corsairs, scoring six minutes into the second quarter.  Lydon had three total shots, along with teammate Sophia Bouffard. 

Bouffard tallied three defensive saves during the game, two of which game in the waning minutes of the second half. Bouffard has officially moved into fifth place all-time for defensive saves by a D3 player. She also leads D3, 2, and 1 in defensive saves this season. 

Morgan Carr earned her first career win, racking up nine saves during the course of over four quarters.

The Corsairs head to UMass Boston this Saturday for another LEC matchup. Gametime against the Beacons is slated for 11AM.
