Jay Schnabel

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Before coming to UMass Dartmouth, Jay Schnable served as the head coach at Curry College from 2010 to 2012 with the Colonials posting a 35-48 mark during those seasons at the helm. He also was on the staff of the 2007 team which made a run to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Schnable’s resume shines in his experiences with high school aged athletes. In 2001, he moved to Santa Ana, California to take over the junior varsity team of Mater Dei High School. Two years later, he replaced Burt Call as the head coach, guiding the program a California Interscholastic Federation Championship in 2005, and breaking a 25-year drought for the program.

After the successful trip west, he returned home to the east coast where he assisted with Milton’s Legion Post 114’s World Series team in 2006. Schnable is local-grown, having graduated from BC High in 1993 and earning his Bachelor’s degree in 1998 from Suffolk University. He is also a certified trainer, and has had stints coaching with USA Baseball.
