Shane Wellman begins his two-year stint as a graduate assistant coach at UMass Dartmouth after a four-year career as a linebacker at Division II Bentley University.

Wellman appeared in 37 career games for the Falcons, totaling 34 career tackles. As a freshman in 2013, he made a career-high 19 stops, averaging 1.7 tackles per outing. He was a mainstay on special teams throughout his career, and recovered a fumble during his junior campaign as Bentley defeated LIU Post 30-28 on Nov. 7, 2015.

A native of Taunton, Mass., Wellman graduated from Bentley with his Bachelor’s Degree in managerial economics and a concentration in law. As a high schooler at Taunton High, he earned seven varsity letters and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013. He is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Business Administration at UMass Dartmouth.
