Carly Whiteside '25 joins the Corsairs women's basketball coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.
Whiteside had a decorated career while playing her last two seasons with UMass Dartmouth. She helped the Corsairs win their first-ever Little East Conference (LEC) Championship title in program history after defeating Southern Maine, 94-50, on March 1st, 2025 and was named the LEC Tournament Most Outstanding Player for her efforts. She garnered several accolades at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season including WBCA Coaches' All-America Honorable Mention, D3hoops.com All-Region 2 First Team, and NEWBA All-Region Second Team.
Whiteside finished the historic 2024-25 season with 406 points, marking a new-career-high, and averaged 15.0 points per game for the Corsairs. Whiteside also led the squad in field goals made (143), field goal percentage (54.0), free throws made (102), free throw attempts (128), total rebounds (216), offensive boards (67), defensive boards (149), average rebounds per game (8.0), and total blocked shots (35).
During her two seasons with the Corsairs, Whiteside produced 783 total points to average 15.7 points per game in her career. In 50 games played including 49 starts, she posted a 56.0 career field goal shooting percentage (279-498) along with an impressive 81.5 career free throw percentage after making 189-of-232 shots from the charity stripe. For two straight years, Whiteside led the squad in rebounds finishing her career with 389 featuring 259 defense boards and 130 offensive boards. She also recorded 68 assists, 58 blocks, and 24 steals throughout her career at UMass Dartmouth.
