Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – Two first-half goals and an increased onslaught in the second were exactly what the Corsairs dealt on Thursday evening, as UMass Dartmouth Field Hockey halted a four-game skid with a 3-0 win against Roger Williams on the road.
The Basics
Score: UMass Dartmouth 3, Roger Williams 0
Records: UMass Dartmouth (5-11) | Roger Williams (3-12)
How it Happened
It took only 13 minutes for the visitors to break in the scoring column, taking advantage of a penalty corner opportunity. Sophomore Ciara Anderson (Medway, Mass.) got off a shot, which found the stick of senior Hunter Carden (Branford, Conn.), who redirected the ball into the left side of the cage.
UMass Dartmouth added to its lead in the 30th minute, when junior Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.) sent a long pass to classmate Delaney Burns (Wayne, N.J.) on the right side of the goal. Burns collected the pass and tapped a score past RWU's Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.)
The Corsairs then more than doubled their firepower in the second half while also holding the Hawks to just three shots in the final stanza, at one point tallying seven corners in a four-minute span. Lunn kept the visitors off the board until the closing minutes, when sophomore Mary Brown (Leicester, Mass.) gathered a loose ball on a corner and sent it in for the insurance goal.
