Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Senior Alan Dang's (Lancaster, Pa.) goal with 4:22 remaining in the second overtime lifted MIT to a 1-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening at Steinbrenner Stadium.
Dang lofted the golden goal from 30 yards out to give the host Engineers (3-0) the triumph, as junior Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, Mass.) made that stand up with a six-save effort in net for MIT. Junior Danny Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.) suffered the tough-luck setback with four saves in goal for the visiting Corsairs (0-3), as the Engineers outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 17-15 margin overall (6-5 on goal). The visitors had a pair of solid chances to break the deadlock in the first extra session prior to Dang's late heroics, as the hosts recorded 12 shots in the final 60-plus minutes and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth will be idle until next Wednesday, September 12th when the Corsairs host Salve Regina in a non-league outing at Cressy Field beginning at 7:00 pm, while MIT heads to Framingham, Mass. on Saturday morning to square off with Framingham State in a non-league clash that begins at 11:00 am.
