Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Freshman Kaitlin Bardellini (Northfield, N.H.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Castleton to a 5-0 Little East Conference field hockey victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field.
Senior Olivia Trevisani (Colchester, Vt.) gave the visiting Spartans (4-4, 3-1 LEC) the only goal they would need 4:29 into the contest, and second quarter tallies by Bardellini and junior Loretta Blakeney (Barnard, Vt.) extended that margin to 3-0 at the break. Seniors Ellie Gevry (New Haven, Vt.) and Cydney Jeffrey (Manchester, Vt.) accounted for the final margin by netting third quarter goals for Castleton, and senior Tashia Pasby-Lockwood (Williston, Vt.) made a pair of saves to notch her third win and second shutout of the season for the visitors, who received a pair of helpers off the stick of junior Gabriella Hunt (Granville, N.Y.).
Junior Katelyn Banalewicz (Fall River, Mass.) made a career-high 23 saves in the setback for the host Corsairs (2-5, 0-3 LEC), as the Spartans outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 31-7 margin overall (28-2 on goal) and held a 19-11 advantage in penalty corners for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Eastern Connecticut in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday evening at Cressy Field beginning at 7:00 pm, while Castleton entertains Rensselaer in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening in Castleton, Vt. that begins at 6:00 pm.
