Men's Tennis Suffers 8-1 Dual-Match Setback At Wheaton In Spring Opener

NORTON, Mass. --  Five different players posted wins in both singles and doubles action to lead Wheaton to an 8-1 non-league college men's tennis dual-match victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at the Haas Athletic Center.

Seniors Ned Roosevelt (New York, N.Y.) and Zach Strempel (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomore Ian Tracy (San Jose, Costa Rica) and freshman Josh Anshuetz (West Bloomfield, Mich.) & Ethan Na (Weatogue, Conn.) triumphed in straight sets in singles play for the host Lyons (1-0).  Tracy and Roosevelt teamed up for an 8-5 win at number one doubles for Wheaton, which received identical 8-4 triumphs at the last two doubles spots from the tandems of Anshuetz & Na as well as Strempel and freshman Jack Luyrink (Paxton, Mass.).

Sophomore Kyle Noseworthy (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched the lone win of the day in the setback for the visiting Corsairs (0-3), as he posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Luyrink at number six singles.

UMass Dartmouth will be idle until Saturday, March 21st when the Corsairs head into Boston for a non-league dual-match with Wentworth, while Wheaton travels to Easton, Mass. on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference dual-match with Stonehill that begins at 1:00 pm.
