Roias' OT Goal Buries Bridgewater State

Senior Will Cochran was credited with the assist

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Senior Goncalo Roias fired the game-winning goal from 20 yards away in the 99th minute of overtime to give the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Bridgewater State Wednesday night at Cressy Field.

The Corsairs (6-5-2) pick up a key win as the team hits the final stretch of the regular season with two important conference matches remaining, while the Bears (5-9-0) continue their up-and-down season, with a 3-3 record in their last six games.

As the first half of overtime was coming to a close, senior Will Cochran sent a pass across the field to Roias, who launched a deep shot from the far corner that found the left side of the net to send the home team into a frenzy.

UMassD had the upper hand throughout the match, outshooting Bridgewater, 23-12 with an 11-5 advantage on goal and 6-2 on corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Jake Castro came through in the clutch on multiple occasions, finishing with five saves for his fifth shutout this season. BSU's senior netminder Will Russell had 10 stops.

The Corsairs will celebrate their seniors on Saturday at 12 p.m. before a critical LEC matchup against Castleton at Cressy Field.
