WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team was defeated, 5-0, by Worcester State Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Memorial Field.
The Corsairs (7-12, 6-6 LEC) will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Tournament against top-seeded Keene State College. The Lancers (14-5, 9-3 LEC) are the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and will host No. 7 Salem State.
Worcester State found the back of the net in the with 10:57 in the first quarter through junior Emily Floury from senior Julianna Martinelli and doubled their lead just minutes later after a goal from junior Molly Cutting from sophomore Zoe Athanasopoulos. Senior Hope Makey then made it a 3-0 lead seconds later from Floury and that score would stand until halftime.
In the second half it was junior Carly Duff from Cutting and Floury again from Duff to finish things off.
UMass Dartmouth takes on Keene State in New Hampshire Tuesday at 6:30 in the first round the LEC Tournament.
