DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â A second-half flurry by Bridgewater State gave the Bears (5-4) a 2-0 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (1-6-1), Tuesday night at Cressy Field.
Junior goalkeeper
Kat Hubbard finished with eight saves, including some diving stops.
It was a family night, as Bridgewater State's freshman Natasha Barnes visited her sister, UMass Dartmouth's senior
Olivia Barnes.
UMass Dartmouth controlled the pace in the beginning stages of the game, firing the first two shots with two corner kicks over the first four minutes. The Bears had eight shots to close the first half, but Hubbard was stellar in goal to keep it scoreless at halftime.
The second half was a different story. Junior Michelle Belcher scored from 25 yards out in the 48th minute on a double assist from sophomore Audra McDuffie and senior Delaney Langton.
It was Belcher again moments later in the 50th minute, this time off assists from McDuffie and sophomore Megan Keller to make it a 2-0 lead.
The Corsairs had 10 more shots to finish the match, compared to 11 from the Bears, but could not find the back of the net.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Keene State on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
