Corsairs Suffer First Conference Loss Against Plymouth State

Kai Kapossy, Justin Weinbrenner and Elliot Burgin scored for UMassD

FALMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth hockey team suffered its first MASCAC loss at the hands of Plymouth State, 6-3, at Falmouth Ice Arena on Saturday night.

Plymouth State improves to 3-1-1 (1-0-1 MASCAC), while the Corsairs fall to 4-2-0 and 2-1-0 in the MASCAC.

5th-year senior Kai Kapossy scored a first period goal from gradate student Dillon Radin and junior Cade Hanley just under three minutes into action, but PSU responded with four straight goals, capped by a power play strike from junior Niks Krollis in the final minute, to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission.

The Corsairs used a power play tally by junior Justin Weinbrenner from sophomore Dominic Dumas and junior Jake Maynard to cut into the margin early in the third, but PSU's sophomore Jeromey Rancourt scored a short-handed marker eight minutes later and another PSU goal extended the lead to 6-2, before UMassD capped the scoring with a short-handed goal of its own by sophomore Elliot Burgin in the final minute.
