SALEM, Mass. -Â 5th-year senior Kai
Kapossy and sophomore
Michael Mania combined for four consecutive goals as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth hockey team snapped a two-game losing streak, defeating Salem State 4-3, on the road Saturday.
The Corsairs improve to 5-3 and 3-2 in the
MASCAC, while Salem State drops to 1-4 and 1-3 in conference play.
Kapossy's first goal was assisted by Mania and graduate student Dillon
Radin, and his second was helped out by junior
Jake Maynard.Â
Radin helped out on both of Mania's scores.
Salem State struck first on a power play when sophomore
Keagan O'Donoghue found the back of the net off an assist from senior Joe Smith at the 11:02 mark of the first period.
Kapossy then evened the score and sent the game winner home. The first goal came at 16:09 in the first from Mania and
Radin, and the winning goal came with 9:11 in the second period from Maynard.
UMass Dartmouth continued to put pressure on the Vikings' defense as goals came often. Mania and
Radin worked together to light the lamp with 13:44 and 15:34 in the second to extend the lead to 4-1.
Smith scored the final two goals for Salem State late in the second and midway through the third, but the Corsairs held them off to secure the victory.
Junior goaltender
Daniel Davidson finished with 25 saves to earn the win.
UMass Dartmouth is back home on Sunday, Nov. 28, for a 5:30 p.m. puck drop at
Hetland Arena.
