Corsairs Fall at Home to Roger Williams

Fifth-year senior Brittany Perry scored her sixth goal of the year

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team fell, 6-1, at the hands of Roger Williams Tuesday night at Cressy Field.

Fifth-year senior Brittany Perry scored her sixth goal of the season for the Corsairs (1-5, 0-1 LEC), while the Hawks (4-0) had five different players score their six goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Trombly finished with six saves for UMass Dartmouth.

Freshman Amelia Monahan scored the first two goals for Roger Williams at 11:12 and 12:42 of the first quarter. The first was assisted by sophomore Hunter Gaffney, while the second was a double-assist from sophomore Kelly Doherty and Gaffney.

The Hawks scored again at 20:31 when freshman Ella Waryas found the back of the cage to put her team ahead 4-0 with 28:26 on the clock. Gaffney then picked up a goal assisted by junior Morgan Foley.

Perry scored for the Corsairs with 41:41 on the clock in the third quarter to make it a 4-1 game. Her score came off a rebound from the goalie on her previous shot.

Doherty and junior Caroline Bauman each scored to finish things off for Roger Williams.

UMass Dartmouth will now prepare for its second LEC contest of the year on Saturday against Castleton at home at 11 a.m.
