Matt Carey Named Club and Intramural Sport Director

Carey Spent the last five years at the Florida Institute of Technology

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation Linda Moulton has announced that Matt Carey has been named the Club and Intramural Sport Director.

Carey comes to UMass Dartmouth from the Florida institute of Technology, where he spent two years as the Game Operations and Ticketing Assistant before taking over the role of Director of Recreation for the previous three seasons.

"I am delighted to join the UMass Dartmouth team and I am so appreciative of my new colleagues in the Athletics department," said Carey. "Additionally, I am looking forward to building a Club Sport and intramural program that includes numerous avenues for our valued students to become involved. This is especially important since often times, the quality of a student's experiences in higher education are positively influenced by becoming actively engaged in co-curricular activities. I encourage students to always feel free to contact me if they have ideas for particular programs or sports; I very much want this to be an inclusive process. Together, we build!"

While at FIT, Carey led the efforts for the Intramural, club sports and ESports Programs. He built intramural sports to serve over 1,250 participants and 25 student-workers and oversaw all 28 club programs on campus. Carey introduced technological advances to keep students and staff engaged and updated on each program, and highlighted the importance that intramural and club sports have on student involvement throughout the campus community.

Carey graduated from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania in 2016 with a bachelor of science in sport management.
