DANBURY, Conn. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team secured a key Little East Conference (LEC) win, 76-62 over WestConn, Saturday in Danbury.

The Corsairs (9-5, 3-2 LEC), who led by as many as 29 points, were led by sophomore
Teja Andrews, who finished with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting off the bench, senior
Jordan Moretti scored 15 points, going 8-of-9 from the free throw line, while 5th-year senior
Meagan Donovan tallied 11 points.

WestConn (6-8, 1-4 LEC), who was limited to 1-of-10 from beyond the arc, were led by sophomore Gabrielle Franks' 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Alyssa Virtue was also in double figures with 16 points.

UMass Dartmouth stayed right with WestConn in first quarter as both sides traded baskets. Trailing 5-2, Andrews scored the next three Corsair baskets for six points and Donovan followed with a triple to make it an 11-9 lead with 2:43 in the first. WestConn then took a three-point advantage, but sophomore
Jemima Joseph, Moretti and Andrews made shots to make it an 18-16 lead after one.

The Corsairs began to pull away in the second. After the score was even at 20, UMass Dartmouth closed the half on a 17-8 run with a barrage of threes. Moretti, sophomore

Haley Reinold and Donovan each hit one from long distance to take a 37-28 halftime lead.

Five-straight points by Donovan sparked a big third. Baskets by Joseph, senior
Jessica Carroll and back-to-back layups from sophomore
Faye Veilleux helped push the Corsair lead to 53-34 with 2:37 left in the quarter. WestConn made it 57-42 heading to the fourth, but UMass Dartmouth was in control.

An And-1 by Andrews started the fourth and the Corsairs went on an 18-4 run with another and-1 from Moretti that was capped off by a Zalewski layup to extend the lead to 75-46 with 4:31 to go. UMass Dartmouth then cruised to the victory.
