DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team honored its three seniors,
Mya Amaral,
Kylie Dias and
Hannah Niemi prior to its contest against Fitchburg State on Saturday. It was the Falcons, who came away with an 8-0 win at Cressy Field.
The Corsairs are now 2-13 and 0-10 in the Little East Conference (LEC), while Fitchburg State improves to 9-6 and 7-3 in the conference.
The Corsairs kept it competitive through the first half, allowing just two goals in the first quarter and one in the final 30 seconds of the second. All three first half scores came from Falcon's standout freshman Lena Kassel.
The third quarter is where Fitchburg State pulled away from the Corsairs, adding four more scores. Three came from Kassel, along with one from freshman Samantha Yates. Kassel's seven-goal performance lifts her to 28 on the season, leading the Little East Conference (LEC).

Kaylie Pereira had an opportunity to score late in the fourth quarter, but her shot resulted in a defensive save.
UMass Dartmouth looks ahead to Thursday, where they will host Western Connecticut at 7 p.m. at Cressy Field.
