WORCESTER, Mass. -Â The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday night at Worcester State.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Duarte sent home her third goal of the season for the Corsairs (3-12-2), while the Lancers' (4-9-2) senior Haley Mignon scored for the home team.
The Corsairs got off to a quick lead, as they put one in the back of the net less than two minutes into the game. Graduate student Kait Bernier sent a free kick in front of the goal and Duarte sent it home for a 1-0 advantage.
UMass Dartmouth's defense withstood a number of shots from Worcester State. Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Durkin tallied six six saves in the first half to keep it a 1-0 game in the Corsairs' favor after 45 minutes.
The Lancers got on the board in the 53rd minute when Mignon headed one in off an assist from senior Hailey Skowronski.
Durkin turned away seven more shots in the second half for a total of 13 saves on the match.
UMass Dartmouth closes the season at Eastern Connecticut on Saturday at 12 p.m.
