Corsairs Suffer Defeat at Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team lost, 8-0, at Framingham State Saturday morning in Little East Conference (LEC) play.

The Corsairs drop to 2-8 and 0-5 in the LEC, while the Rams improve to 7-4 and 3-3 in the conference.

In the 10th minute of the first the Rams got on the board when junior Isabella Kondi finished a one-time pass from classmate Brandi Core for the 1-0 lead. Graduate student Kylie Dias had a breakaway in the following moments but the Rams keeper stepped up to clear the shot from danger.

A few ticks later the Rams scored again after sophomore Abby Clark sent in a long pass that was gathered by junior Corlene Guenard and finished off inside the left post. The Rams scored two goals in the second frame, first Guenard scored in the 17th minute and Core got in the action in the 19th minute to send the teams to the break with the Rams up 4-0.

Clark, Kondi, Guenard and sophomore Emma Bailey all scored in the second half for the Rams to reach the final margin.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Trombly made ten stops in the cage for the Corsairs. The Corsairs had 13 corners to the Rams six.

UMass Dartmouth travels to Westfield State on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
