DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â A 14th-minute goal by Keene State was the difference as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's soccer team fell at home Saturday afternoon.
The Corsairs fall to 3-8-1 and 1-3-0 in the Little East Conference (LEC), while the Owls improve to 7-5-2 and 2-2-0 in the conference. Each team had two shots on goal, while UMass Dartmouth held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
In the early minutes, a trio of early UMass Dartmouth shots, including one on goal from freshman
Lauren Couitt, came up empty. Keene State then capitalized when junior Alexa Skinner found the back of the net in the 14th minute for the lone goal of the day.
The Corsairs had second-half shots from freshman
Veronica Bock, senior
Mya Parker, sophomore
Erica Reed and graduate student
Kait Bernier, but all were off target.
It was a defensive battle from then on, as the Owls held off the Corsairs for the LEC win.
UMass Dartmouth is on the road for a Wednesday matchup at 1 p.m. against UMass Boston.
