UMass Dartmouth Leaves Suffolk With a Tie

BOSTON, Mass. – A late Suffolk goal evens the game up at 3-3, resulting in UMass Dartmouth's second tie of the season.

The Corsairs advance to 3-3-2 overall, while the Rams reach 1-5-1.

UMass Dartmouth coming off their win against Salem State on Saturday, kicked the game off with a score just 43 seconds into the contest from senior Sky Silverstein. Silverstein was assisted by his classmate and captain Jake Maynard. No other goals came in the first period, despite a 5-minute power-play opportunity for the Corsairs. The Rams also were unable to capitalize on two UMass Dartmouth penalties.  

UMass Dartmouth would capitalize on their power play chance early in the second frame. This time it was junior Dominic Dumas that gave the Corsairs a 2-0 lead, off a pass from senior Clay Ellerbrock. Suffolk was not ready to be put away, and answered with two back-to-back power-play goals of their own. The scorers for the Rams were junior Ryan Herrigan and sophomore Phil Decresce. Going into the final stanza, the game was tied 2-2.

Another UMass Dartmouth senior captain, Michael Perrone, would put the Corsairs back on top, 13 minutes into the final period. Perrone's goal would add assists for Silverstein and freshman Matthew Zdanowicz. With just two minutes remaining in regulation, Suffolk pulled their Goalie to bring in an extra attacker during a late power-play, which would prove to work out for the Rams, when senior Griffin Clark scored to even the contest at 3-3.

Neither team was able to score the game-winner in overtime, resulting in a 3-3 tie on Tuesday night.  

Suffolk out-shot UMass Dartmouth 48-33. Senior goalkeeper Daniel Davidson had another good performance with 45 saves and comes away with another tie on his record.  
UMass Dartmouth returns to the ice on Saturday for their first matchup in the Stovepipe Tournament at 4:00 p.m. in Hooksett, N.H. where they will face New England College in the opening round.
