DARTMOUTH, Mass. -Â Senior
Chase Stafford crushed his first-career home run deep over the left field fence to give the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth baseball team a 5-2 lead in the fourth inning, but Rhode Island College scored 15 unanswered runs to win, 17-5, Tuesday afternoon.
Junior
DJ Perron laced a two-RBI triple for the Corsairs (10-11, 1-4 LEC), and sophomore
Jared Neikam had an RBI as well. The Anchormen (15-6-1, 6-1 LEC) scored their 17 runs on 18 hits and had 14 RBI. Freshman Daniel Trzepacz went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored for the road team.

Ryan Bruning then strung together three-straight scoreless innings as the Corsairs retook the lead in the third. An error by the RIC right fielder allowed one run to cross the plate to even the score, Perron's triple then brought home two more runs, and Neikam's RBI groundout scored Perron to make it a 4-2 UMassD advantage.
Stafford cranked his homer in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-2.
From there it was all Anchormen. RIC tied the game in the fifth on a pair of doubles and a single. A two-run home run highlighted a four-run sixth inning to bring the score to 9-5. Five more scored in the seventh, and three crossed the plate in the ninth to finish it off.
UMass Dartmouth is at MItchell on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
