DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Sophomore
Lucas Passaro of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team
sent home his second goal of the season
in the 12th minute on Saturday against Salem State in the teams' 1-1 draw. Freshman
Cameron Aguiar was credited with the assist on the goal.
With the tie, the Corsairs are now 0-1-2, while the Vikings move to 2-1-1 on the year.
UMass Dartmouth struck first, 12 minutes into the game, when Aguiar fired a free kick from the 16-yard line that found Passaro for the easy goal to make it a 1-0 advantage. Despite facing six shots from the Vikings offense throughout the remainder of the half, the Corsairs would carry the slight advantage into the second stanza.
The Vikings wasted no time answering back in the second half when senior Dylan Senra scored to even the score at one apiece in the 46th minute. The Vikings kept the pressure up, firing off 12 shots in the second half to the Corsairs sole shot, but both teams were unable to find the back of the net and ended the game in a 1-1 stalemate.
UMass Dartmouth is at Saint Joseph on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
