WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -Â Despite leading in total shots taken and corner kicks, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team was blanked by Saint Joseph of Connecticut, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at the USJ Soccer Field.
The Corsairs (0-2-2) finished with 17 shots compared to 14 for the Blue Jays (3-1-0) and led in corner kicks, 10-7. Saint Joseph had five shots on goal to three for UMass Dartmouth.

Nick Mahjoory each had one shot on goal. Scoring for the Blue Jays were graduate student DeAnte Anderson, junior Dane Stephens and senior Benjamin Marchetti.
Each team traded a flurry of scoring opportunities over the first 20 minutes of the game. Saint Joseph broke through in the 24th minute when Anderson found the back of the net off an assist from senior Michael Torres. The Blue Jays made it a 2-0 game 56 seconds later on Stephens' goal.
UMass Dartmouth ripped four more shots, including one on goal, and had two corner kicks before the half ended, but could not get on the scoreboard. Saint Joseph made it 3-0 in the 70th minute on Marchetti's goal from sophomore Jin Chen to finish things off.
Little East Conference play begins on Friday at Plymouth State at 3 p.m.
