MILTON, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's soccer team fell for the first time in 2022 at the hands of Curry College, 5-1, on Saturday at Walter M. Katz Field.
The Corsairs drop to 2-1-0 on the year, while the Colonels improve to 3-2-0. Sophomore Caroline McAuliffe found the back of the net for the first time in her career at UMass Dartmouth.
Curry scored the first three goals and wasted no time getting on the board. Sophomore Kiera Lindmark got on the board just 32 seconds in on a chip shot from the right side of the box. Graduate student Samantha Borges assisted on the goal.
In the 26th minute, Curry extended its lead to two on a goal from Shannon Folan, and just 2:35 later Curry stretched it to three on a Borges tally.
McAuliffe put an end to the shutout in the 35th minute on a free kick, but Curry had a quick answer when junior Sydney Resendes scored in the 38th minute. It would take just 46 seconds for the Colonels to stretch their lead to 5-1, when sophomore Natalie Keenan scored her first collegiate goal.
The game turned into a defensive battle as neither team found the back of the net in the second half.
