DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to Clark at home Tuesday night at Cressy Field.
Scoring for the Corsairs (2-3) were graduate student
Kylie Dias and sophomore
Harley Hodge. Finding the back of the cage for the Cougars (3-4) were graduate student Kimberlie Asseng, sophomore Autumn Golding and freshmen Ciarian Cubbage and Alison Kopec.
After a scoreless first quarter, it took 45 seconds into the second for the Corsairs to earn a penalty corner and take advantage. Junior
Maggie McCafferty ripped a shot that got lost in a scrum in front of the goal, and Dias was there to send it home to make it a 1-0 advantage.
Clark took the lead in the final minute of the half. Asseng scored with 41 seconds left to even the score at one. Then, with no time on the clock, a Clark penalty corner resulted in a goal from Golding assisted by senior Abbe Cravinho to bring the score to 2-1.
Hodge knotted the score at two at the 35:05 mark of the third quarter off a corner and assists from junior
Colleen Murphy and sophomore
Jenna Carvalho.
Cubbage then scored the game-winning goal just over five minutes later, and the Cougars added an insurance goal early in the fourth when Kopec found the back of the cage to finish it off.
