Nor'Easters Too Strong For Corsairs, 154-90.

BIDDEFORD, Maine - University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sophomore Piper Dienst captured a pair of events, including a personal-best in the 100-yard backstroke, but the Corsairs dropped a 154-90 dual meet at the University of New England this afternoon inside Campus Center Pool.

"Even though today's final score against a strong UNE team was not in our favor, I was highly encouraged by a number of solid swims this afternoon," Head Coach Owen Worden said.  "As we head into arguably the most critical point of the season, we have a handful of swimmers who are setting themselves up nicely for end of the season success at the Little East Conference Championships. It was a nice challenge these past two weeks competing against two of the top programs within the conference (Westfield State & UNE)."

Dienst was the lone UMass Dartmouth swimmer to capture two individual races this afternoon, helping the Corsairs win four of the 14 contested races.  Dienst was first in the 50-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 32.48 seconds. The Winchendon, Mass. native established a new career-low time in the 100-yard backstroke, when she touched the wall at 1:08.59.

First-year Isabella Gerardi was victorious in the 50-yard butterfly (32.11), while classmate Kylie Winer posted her fastest time of the season in the 500-yard freestyle, stopping the timer at 6:03.04.
