DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's soccer team was handed their second loss of the season by the Seahawks of Salve Regina on Wednesday. The Corsairs slip to a record of 2-2-2 as they approach conference play, while the Seahawks improve to 2-1-3.
The first score came early for Salve Regina, when senior Zoe Cox found the back of the net less than three minutes into the contest. The Corsairs were able to attempt five quick shots around the 20
th minute. The shot attempts came from junior
Caroline McAuliffe, freshmen
Madison Depina and
Lauren Widmer. Of those five shots, three of them were on-target and turned away by Salve Regina's sophomore goalkeeper, Raegan Moffatt. After being unable to convert on their scoring opportunities, the Corsairs went into the half trailing 1-0.
It didn't take long for the Seahawks to extend their lead in the second half, when Sara Wiejkus scored 47 seconds into the second period. Salve Regina was able to tack on a third and final goal in the 60
th minute on their way to a 3-0 victory over the Corsairs.

Rose Dibb saw her first action for UMass Dartmouth, tallying three saves and did not allow a score in her time on the field. McAuliffe and freshman
Amanda Thompson each recorded two shots on target.
UMass Dartmouth women's soccer opens up conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23, when they host Southern Maine. The LEC matchup is scheduled for 4pm on Cressy Field.
