WESTFIELD, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team returned to action on Saturday, traveling to Western Massachusetts for dual meet action against Westfield State University. The Corsairs, who saw two victories on the afternoon, shouldered a tough 162-41 loss to the Owls.
Sophomore
Kylie Winer claimed the victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in a time of 2:52.48 for a nearly six second decisive win. Classmate Ella Gerardi posted second overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:10.93.
In the 50-yard freestyle, senior
Savannah Platt finished third with a time of 30.63, going on to take second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:21.52. Winer claimed victory once again, this time in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:01.03.
Winer than placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:10.93, while Gerardi and Platt went third (1:14.54) and fourth (1:23.96), respectively in the 100-yard Individual Medley.
The Corsairs return to the pool next Saturday, hosting the University of New England at the Tripp Athletic Center Natatorium. Action begins at 1pm and will not only be the Corsairs Game of the Week, but also Senior Day!
