BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's soccer team were tripped up by UMass Boston in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Wednesday night by a final score of 3-0. The Corsairs dropped to 0-2 in league play while the Beacons improved to 2-0 conference record with the win.
Andrea Rivera registered the first shot on target in the game forcing an early save from first year goalkeeper
Emma Juelis, her first collegiate start in net as a Corsair. The Beacons attack gained traction as play continued posting eight shot attempts featuring pair of stops by Juelis.
Around the 34
th minute, sophomore
Adriana Adames produced the first shot on frame for UMass Dartmouth that Beacons goalkeeper Julia Cote saved for her first stop of the night. UMass Boston earned a late corner kick in the last few minutes of the half, but both teams headed into the break still deadlocked at 0-0.
First year
Lilly Jaeger fired her first shot of the game to start the second half that Cote was able to get a hand on for the save. At the 59:51 mark, Sofia Schallmo netted her sixth goal of the season off a freekick to put UMass Boston in front 1-0.

Veronica Bock cleared off the goal line for the Corsairs. Sophomore
Madison Depina was able to get a header off a corner kick taken by Jaeger, but her shot sailed over the crossbar and out of play.
In a five-minute span, respectively, Schallmo scored twice for the Beacons to seal her first collegiate hat trick. The Corsairs kept battling towards the end of the half, but UMass Boston secured their second conference win by a final score of 3-0.
The Beacons outshot the Corsairs 25-4 in the contest and also held a 9-2 edge in shots on-goal. UMass Boston took six corner kicks in the game while UMass Dartmouth earned two on the night.
Adames and Jaeger each recorded one shot on target in the game for the Corsairs. Schallmo led the Beacons with her hat trick and a team-high nine total shot attempts.
Juelis picked up the loss after posting six saves and allowing three goals after 90 minutes of action. Cote registered two stops on the night for the Beacons to improve to a 5-0-2 goalkeeper record.
The Corsairs return to Cressy Field to host Keene State University on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Little East matchup is set for a 3:00 pm start time.
