BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's swimming & diving team finished fifth overall out of six teams competing at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday. The Corsairs earned 200 points on the day to claim fifth place as a team, just 26 points shy of Rhode Island College.
Junior
Isabella Gerardi had a strong performance capturing a first place finish for UMass Dartmouth in the 200 yard butterfly event with a time of 2:45.50. She also placed fourth in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 5:36.21 and fifth overall 14 competitors in the 500 yard freestyle clocking at 6:12.00.
Junior
Kylie Winer saw her best performance of the meet in the 200 yard freestyle event after earning second place with a time of 2:10.38. Winer continued to have strong efforts in both the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing third overall, and the 100 yard freestyle, finishing fifth overall.
First year
Emiyah Setalsingh's best event of the day was in the 100 yard backstroke clocking at 1:12.96 to secure fourth overall. She also came in fifth place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:15.37 for the Corsairs.
In her debut meet for the Corsairs, sophomore
Skye Peters took third place in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:09.50. Peters also captured fourth overall in the 50 yard backstroke and fifth overall in the 50 yard freestyle for UMass Dartmouth.
Sophomore
Sam King saw her best performance of the meet in the 100 yard freestyle event finishing with a time of 1:04.68, good for seventh overall. King also competed in the 50 yard freestyle clocking in at 28.66 for eighth place.
In the 100 yard butterfly event, graduate student
Savannah Platt secured a seventh place finish clocking in at 1:27.66. She also competed in the 50 yard butterfly finishing in 14th place with a time of 34.49.
In the relay events, UMass Dartmouth took third place out of six teams in the 200 yard medley relay clocking in at 2:07.38. The Corsairs also competed in the 200 yard freestyle relay finishing sixth with a time of 1:57.45.
UMass Dartmouth will be on winter break before returning to the pool on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Plymouth State University. The meet is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Plymouth, N.H.
