DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Powered by goals from five different players, Salve Regina University posted a 6-0 non-conference win over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening on Cressy Field. The Seahawks move to 5-0 on the season, while the Corsairs are now 3-5 on the season.
After a scoreless opening period, Salve got on the board at 20:54 as Jordyn Pineau scored. That tally was followed by a score less than 10 minutes later as Julia Decker buried a feed from Georgia Costello for the 2-0 advantage in the third quarter.
The Seahawks added another third quarter score eight minutes later as Bella Gannon fed the ball to Angelina Regels, who punched it in past Corsairs goalie
Shane Cueman.
In the final quarter of play, the visitors stepped up the attack with Shannon Kennedy burying a feed from Molly Kearney to push the score to 4-0. Kira Spedden made it a 5-0 game, driving home the rebound of a saved shot at 54:27. It was Spedden once more at 59:01 as she found the rebound of her own saved shot for the goal past Corsairs keeper
Hannah Trombly.
Salve goalie Bryn Protheroe posted two saves for the victory, while Cueman recorded a career-high 22 stops in the loss for the Corsairs. Trombly came on for the final 5:12 of relief and did not have a stop.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday when it opens Little East Conference action on the road at Keene State. Game time is set for 1pm.
