PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its weekly honorees in women's volleyball and UMass Dartmouth student-athletes
Allison Pate,
Emily Pogorelec and
Skye Peters have all been recognized. It marks the second straight Offensive Player of the Week honor for Pate, while Pogorelec and Peters earn their fourth straight Defensive Player and Setter of the Week honors, respectively.
Pate, a junior outside hitter from Sebring, Fla., posted her second straight honor after recording a team-best 37 kills in a 3-0 week for the Corsairs. In a 3-0 win at Rhode Island College on Wednesday, she posted a match-high 10 kills with an assist, two service aces and 18 digs. Additionally, Pate added a block solo and two block assists.
The captain then recorded a match-best 16 kills, posting 21 digs with a block solo and a block assist in a 3-0 victory over Wester Connecticut State on Saturday. Pate rounded out the weekend with a match-high 11 kills, an assist, two aces, nine digs and a block assist in a 3-0 win over Simmons on Saturday.
Through 71 sets played this season, Pate has recorded 248 total kills, adding 10 assists, 13 service aces, 280 digs, five block solos and 20 block assists. She currently ranks second in the Little East in both kills and kills per set (3.49). She also ranks first in overall points (276), second in points per set (3.89) and is sixth in digs per set (3.94).
Pogorelec, a senior captain and defensive specialist out of Wayne, N.J., posted 56 digs and 6.22 digs per set last week. In the win against the Anchorwomen, she posted a match-best 16 digs, adding five assists and a kill.
In the win against the Wolves, Pogorelec posted 23 digs, adding two assists in a key LEC matchup on Saturday. She finished the week with a match-best 17 digs and an assist in the non-league victory over the Sharks.
On the season, Pogorelec leads the squad with 350 total digs, averaging 4.93 digs per set. She has added 67 assists – which ranks third on the team – adding 15 service aces. Amongst the Little East leaders, Pogorelec ranks first in total digs and second in digs per set.
Peters, a junior setter from Albuquerque, N.M., hit a major career milestone in the Corsairs undefeated week. She recorded 52 assists for a 5.78 assists per set average, achieving her 1,500th career assist. Additionally, Peters added a service ace and 22 digs. In the win at RIC, she recorded a match-high 16 assists, adding an ace and eight digs.
A four-time weekly honoree this season, Peters then achieved her 1,500th career assist against the Wolves, recording 21 overall with 12 digs in the victory. Peters closed out the week, tying a match-high 15 assists with two digs in the win over Simmons.
This season, Peters has played in all 71 sets, recording 416 assists for a 5.86 assists per set average. She also owns a team-best 30 service aces and ranks second on the team in digs with 164. Amongst the LEC's best, Peters ranks fifth in assists per set and fourth in overall assists. For her career, Peters now has 1,527 assists in 77 matches played.
UMass Dartmouth returns to the court on Wednesday, hosting Roger Williams University at Tripp Gym. Match time is set for 7pm.
