BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team competed at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday from the Moriarty Swimming Pool. The Corsairs finished sixth overall out of seven teams with 163 total points.
Senior
Kylie Winer had an impressive day in the pool for UMass Dartmouth after capturing career-best times in two events while also collecting three total second-place finishes. Winer opened the meet by finishing second overall in 200-yard freestyle event with a career best time of 2:07.08. She later secured another second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke after clocking in at 2:40.64, also marking a career best time. Winer earned her third straight second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.26.
Senior
Isabella Gerardi captured second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 2:42.87. Gerardi went on to record a career best time of 1:09.00 in the 100-yard butterfly to take fourth overall. She also placed fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 21:24.66, marking a season-best for the veteran swimmer.
First year
Abby Fernandes took fifth overall in the 400-yard individual medley with a career best time of 5:26.41. Fernandes also captured sixth place out of 31 swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle after posting a time of 27.26, good for a season-best. She concluded the meet by earning another career best time in the 50-yard backstroke clocking in at 32.58 to finish sixth overall.
Junior
Skye Peters, making her season debut for the Corsairs, secured her best finish of the meet in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:09.14 to take fifth place out of 14 competitors. She also placed sixth overall in the 50-yard butterfly (30.12) and ninth overall 50-yard freestyle (27.35) for UMass Dartmouth.
Graduate student
Grace Nguyen competed in the 50-yard breaststroke event for the Corsairs and posted a time of 46.40, good for 16
th place. She also competed in both the 50-yard freestyle (36.25) and 100-yard freestyle (1:19.57).
In the relay events, UMass Dartmouth took sixth place in the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.05) featuring Peters, Winer, Fernandes, and Nguyen. The Corsairs then placed fifth as a team in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the help of Fernandes, Gerardi, Peters, and Winer finishing with a time of 4:08.84.

Overall, we had a great meet and it was a great way to close out the fall semester portion of the season," said head coach
Michael Kroll following today's meet. "A majority of our times were either lifetime or season best performances and puts us in a great spot heading into the holiday break."
UMass Dartmouth returns to action after the winter break on Saturday, January 17 competing at Albertus Magnus College.
