Perregaux notches four RBIs, Routhier records first career home run

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth softball team took down Keene State College on Tuesday evening in the final home Little East Conference (LEC) series of the regular season. Junior RaeLynn Perregaux walked it off for the Corsairs in game one, 3-2, with an RBI double followed by a three-run blast from sophomore Lily Routhier to kickstart game two and secure the conference sweep by a final score of 7-1. UMass Dartmouth move to 6-8 in Little East action, and are now 18-14 overall, while the Owls dropped to a 16-17 record on the season.

Keene State grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the opening game of the day after scoring two runs in the top of the third inning. Perregaux cut the visitors lead in half in the bottom of the inning with a single to right field that tagged senior outfielder Kinu Takasugi home. The junior third baseman drilled the ball to left center field for an RBI double to knot the game up at 2-apeice heading into the last two innings.

First year pitcher Edy Crawford registered her third strikeout of the contest to retire the side from the top of the sixth. The Corsairs defense held the Owls bats in the top of the seventh to keep the game tied at 2-2. In the bottom of the seventh, Takasugi advanced into scoring position thanks to a sacrifice bunt by senior Jillian Walsh. Perregaux then doubled to center field for the walk off to defeat the Owls 3-2 in game one.

In game two, Routhier got the bats going in the first inning with a three-run blast to left field to give UMass Dartmouth the quick 3-0 edge. Takasugi posted an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to bring senior shortstop Larissa Piessens home and extend the Corsairs advantage to 4-0. Keene State got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning to make it a 4-1 game, but sophomore Liv Matos responded by lacing the ball to deep right field for a two-RBI triple.
